Currently, the Immigration Department of Malaysia requires students from certain nationalities to apply a Single Entry Visa (SEV) from authorised Malaysian Embassy at the students’ home country (country list click here). In order to do so, students are required to obtain a Visa with Reference (VWR) letter prior to their visit to the Malaysian Embassy. There are also nationalities who may directly enter Malaysia without a Single Entry Visa but are required to have the Visa Approval Letter (VAL). (Refer to the Visa Application Procedures below).
Applicants need to apply for the eVAL (e-Visa Approval Letter) via the Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) online application website: https://educationmalaysia.gov.my 3 months before making arrangement to travel to Malaysia or for registration.
USM-IMCC Visa Management Office will apply the Visa with Reference (VWR/VDR) letter or Visa Approval Letter (VAL) on behalf of the applicants or international staff (expatriates) and their respective family members who are offered work placement in USM to the Immigration Department of Malaysia. Applicants need to apply Single Entry Visa (SEV) thru E-Visa Malaysia (click). The USM-IMCC will submit the application to obtain VWR/VDR/VAL once we received complete documents required from the Faculty or Human Resource Department to the Immigration Department 3 months prior to report duty of the personnel.
Application of single entry visa (sev-single entry visa)/(via-visa on arrival) to Malaysia:
Once your application at EMGS is completed and Electronic Visa Approval Letter (eVAL) has been approved by Malaysian Immigration Department, Please DOWNLOAD and PRINT your eVAL from your application status via EMGS website. Effective 15 October 2017, original VAL will not be required to obtain your Single Entry Visa (SEV) from the Malaysian Embassy.
